Upon your arrival in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, you’ll find that most flights tend to land in the late evening. As you disembark, our attentive driver will be waiting for you at the airport, ready to escort you to our cozy Tambocajas B&B Basecamp. Relax and unwind as we prepare you for the adventure ahead!
City Tour of Quito – Equator Monument
Today, we will immerse ourselves in the rich history and vibrant culture of Colonial Quito. Our adventure begins at El Panecillo, home to an impressive sculpture of Quito’s Madonna. Here, we’ll take in the awe-inspiring 360-degree views of the surrounding glaciated peaks, creating the perfect backdrop for unforgettable photographs. Next, we’ll stroll through the enchanting old town of Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Chimborazo Trek – Chimborazo Refuge – Cuatro Esquinas
We rise early in the morning to begin our descent from the Carrel Refuge (4,800 m), making our way toward the base of Chimborazo. Our first stop is the magnificent Machay Temple (4,700 m), a natural rock formation resembling an ancient temple that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The sights here are truly awe-inspiring, providing a perfect backdrop for memorable photographs. From Machay, we continue our descent to the Quishuar Lone Tree (4,154 m), a remarkable and iconic solitary tree that stands defiantly in this rugged terrain, a symbol of resilience amidst the harsh and beautiful landscape. Upon reaching our Refuge in Collanes, we’ll settle in and take a moment to soak in the awe-inspiring scenery.
